JOB DESCRIPTION: Sr Clinical Research Manager

The Publication Manager holds a position whose goal is 1) Strategic planning, 2) Operational excellence and 3) Dissemination for Core CRDM world wide efforts.
1. Strategic Planning: Will work in a leadership role within a cross-functional team of professionals by building and maintaining active, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders. This includes overseeing the management of strategies for key publications and appropriate dissemination. This individual will be responsible for maintaining the strategic world wide Core CRDM publication pipeline aligned with business initiatives as well as the CRDM Roadmap. This individual will develop and maintain close professional relationships with influential members/opinion leaders (physician/researchers) within pertinent medical communities, remains informed of current developments through familiarity with current literature, attendance at meetings, conventions, professional associations, etc.
2. Operational Excellence: This role will be responsible to manage the integration of best practices into all study teams, translating the vision to be identified by the medical community as the “Clinical Partner of Choice”. This includes overseeing the management of strategies for key publications and ensuring that best publication practices are developed and deployed.
3. Dissemination: This individual will be responsible to help physicians and other clinicians deliver the best care to their patients by facilitating communication of scientific/medical information between Medtronic and the clinicians. The role will be required to integrate and coordinate efforts with Medtronic Public Relations and press release strategies to ensure consistent, accurate and strategically aligned messages are disseminates to the right audience at the right time.


REQUIREMENTS - QUALIFICATIONS: Sr Clinical Research Manager

Strong Influence Management skills.

- Experience (proven record) to re-engineer and develop organizations.
- Dynamic thinker; able to translate vision into tactics.
- Ability to oversee and manage several projects simultaneously,
- Oversees the publication and dissemination of information in support of the Company’s products by means of a publication plan/team, product information letters/responses and medical education processes.
- Frequently interacts with actual and potential investigators, consultants and speakers, attendance and assistance at scientific symposia, and development/delivery of presentations about current research findings that include and impact Medtronic’s products.
- Accountable for the effective use of a standardized publication planning tool.
- Identifies and drives metrics, tool refinement process improvement and sharing of best practices to further enhance the efficiency of publication planning.
- Reduce and/or avoid cost, and mitigate risk in business operations for our shareholders.
- Identify and drive process improvement.
- Strategically partner in the direction, planning, execution, and interpretation of clinical research projects.
- Accomplishes results through managing others. Delegates duties and ensures that employees understand job duties and responsibilities.
- Represent the function of our department across the Medtronic businesses, with other functional areas, key physician and scientist customers.
- Manages the coordination of the activities of a work group or broad department initiatives with responsibility for results in terms of costs, methods and employees.
- Ensures adequate training for employees; develops employees and evaluates their performance; has authority to hire, terminate and promote employees; ensures that projects are completed on schedule and within budget.

KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION:
Bachelor of Science with experience in health sciences.
JOB EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of 10-15 years experience directly supporting clinical research, medical device development, biological or similar experiences in a technical/scientific area. Minimum four years people leadership experience.
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
-Ability to interact with all levels of management. Excellent communication skills (oral, business writing, and listening). Experience in developing individual contributors and managers and enabling their career opportunities.
-Strong management skills and comfortable working in a fast paced environment.
-Strong leadership and negotiation skills.
-Advanced project management experience.
-Passion for coaching and developing talent.
-Budgeting and Profit and Loss experience.
-Exceptional problem solving skills.
-Experience in resource and expense management.
-Business knowledge across multiple functions, including, but not limited to: Clinical Research, Product Development, Quality & Regulatory, Marketing & Sales.
