JOB DESCRIPTION: Clinical Research Nurse II 151271 (NCI)
The CMRP (Clinical Monitoring Research Program) is responsible for providing clinical research nursing support to the NIH's Clinical Center/Division of Research Development NIH/CC/DRD, specifically supporting NCI's Interventional Radiology Research Program. This position is located at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland. Provides support to the research team for image guided therapies research in an emerging clinical arena to include clinical trial support for drug + device combination therapies and translational research (i.e., Phase I, novel devices for tumor ablation, novel drugs activated with devices and fibroid ablation with non invasive image-guided energy). Provides assistance in the management of patient data in a variety of clinical trials. Completes flow sheets and case report forms according to the provisions of approved investigational protocols. Confirms collection of appropriate patient samples per protocol schema. Assures scientific quality and human subjects protection. Recognizes and supports the needs of data integrity and retrieval, and interprets needs appropriately for Principal Investigators, patients, and other staff members.
REQUIRED SKILLS: Must possess a degree or diploma from a professional nursing program approved by a legally designated State accrediting agency at the time the program was completed. Current State license as a registered nurse (RN). Foreign educated candidates who have completed part or all of their education outside of the United States must have their foreign education evaluated by an SAIC-approved accrediting organization to assure that it has met the equivalency of the qualifications of degree work in the United States. In addition to education requirements, two years clinical research nursing experience. Possess knowledge of clinical research data collection and clinical data report preparation. Demonstrated experience in the coordination, implementation, and execution of clinical trials. Ability to work in a data management setting in the capture and analysis of patient data including toxicity assessment, drug administration, laboratory results, and tumor response. This position is subject to obtaining a Public Trust Clearance.
DESIRED SKILLS: Oncology experience. Experience in a clinical trials outpatient setting and/or experience in data management and collection. Good communication skills.
