JOB DESCRIPTION: MANAGER, PURCHASING

PRIMARY FUNCTION / PRIMARY GOALS / OBJECTIVES:
The Manager of Pharmaceutical Products Division (PPD) Purchasing works on the definition of and resolution of known or anticipated problems in value, quality, and feasibility in the procurement of Marketing Services, while contributing cost savings and other value added activity to support customer needs and expectations.

The candidate shall be responsible for:
· Sourcing, contracting and purchasing the major and/or critical assigned Marketing Services.
· Identifying, developing and implementing improved and standardized buying practices, processes and procedures to ensure adequacy of supply chain.
· Identifying, developing and implementing new systems that aid in the identification and collection of pricing, suppliers, purchasing data etc.
· Optimizing internal/external resources and utilizing relationships to expedite and refine the process to exceed client’s expectations, leveraging cross functional resources to provide excellent solutions.
· Negotiating multi year agreements with strategic suppliers.
· Providing detailed evaluations of internal and industry benchmarks to enhance current process results. Proactively indentifying opportunities for process or cost improvements and taking the appropriate actions to implement. Anticipating the changing environment and providing recommendations on how to maximize Abbott’s opportunities.
· Developing and maintaining a supply base that ensures the best value for quality, delivery , pricing, service etc.
· Managing and directing professional staff including exempt and non-exempt personnel.


REQUIREMENTS - QUALIFICATIONS: MANAGER, PURCHASING

Basic Qualifications:
Knowledge of applicable regulations and standards affecting Pharmaceutical Products (e.g. CFR 210/211, cGMP) specifically,
· 5 years experience in Purchasing.
· 4 years experience in Project Management.
· 2 years experience in supervision/ employee relations.

Preferred Qualifications:
· 3 years experience in Financial Analysis.
· 3 years experience in Quality Systems & Documentation.
· 2 years experience in Strategy Development.
· 2 years of technical experience in Marketing/Sales Operations.
· Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Possesses ability to learn and utilize other software tools as necessary. Bachelor’s degree required. Degree in Business or Marketing strongly preferred. Master's degree preferred.
