JOB DESCRIPTION: VP, Global Head, Semio Business Process Management - RTP, NC
Quintiles is in partnership with Lilly on a co-sponsored initiative known as Semio. This initiative is aimed at piloting revised methodologies to enhance scientific and operational clinical planning/design, management and execution. The initiative will deliver those enhancements through:
* Application of current and new technology and data analytics * Creation of a partnership model that moves accountability and risk to the CRO, facilitating that through strategically aligning CRO and sponsor around clinical trial design and execution * The application of cross organizational Business Process Management (BPM) discipline to remove redundant process steps resulting from items 1 and 2 above
In order to deliver the cross organizational process enhancement "Portfolio of Change," Semio has created an internal Business Process Management (BPM) organization - Process Central. Semio is seeking an experienced Executive to lead the "Process Central - Shared Services (PC -SS)" group. Working in partnership with a business executive from Lilly and Quintiles the qualified person will serve as leader for the Shared Services organization, owner and driver of the overall change agenda spanning the two parent organizations and the Semio joint venture.
As a member of the Semio Leadership team, this role will be responsible for integrating the proposed process changes with the overall Semio strategy and goals. Global Head will serve to inform the Semio Leadership team of key process changes and needs, and will ensure key cross-organizational strategic shifts and needs are managed as part of the Process Central Portfolio of Change.
PURPOSE
Global Head will direct and supervise creation and development of cross-organizational BPM organization; as such, responsible for management and delivery of cross-organizational portfolio of process and business changes emerging from Semio partnership. Ensure that portfolio is delivered in accordance with Semio Leadership strategic guidance while harmonized with partner organization needs. Also responsible for ensuring structure and process is established and leveraged to fulfill entire BPM lifecycle to support ongoing process optimization across the Semio Model.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Lead a small, matrix managed team with responsibility for cross organizational change and significant improvements in cycle time and cost of development: * Program management/co-ordination of agreed cross organizational process changes * Quality Management for processes * Business Process Management Systems (BPMS) * Business Operations and Analysis; operational cost and value quantification * Serve as member of the Semio Leadership Team participating in, advising and guiding overall Semio change strategy; act as conduit between Semio Leadership Team broad cross- organizational Process Central team * Maintain actual, budget and forecast spend responsibility for the Process Central element of the Semio operational budget * Manage the scope of work, timelines, quality of deliverables, for all activities executed within the Process Central Shared Services group. * Manage the strategic prioritization of the "portfolio of change" opportunities generated via the Semio Service Development Teams (SDTs), Quintiles and Lilly functional and BRAND teams. Communicate priorities with rationale and context. * Partner with Process Central team and functional owners and SMEs to develop and communicate project plans and recommendations for the agreed portfolio of change initiatives. * Lead a small team in the development and maintenance of meaningful Key Performance Indicators for the Semio partnership and clinical programs * Partner on the development and maintenance of BPMS information and tracking systems in with the BPMS CoE lead * Develop appropriate risk management strategies including a risk register and risk mitigation plans. * Liaise with matrix managed team members line management (where appropriate) to provide performance and/or development feedback in accordance with the relevant organization's policies and applicable regulations.
*Position will be based either in RTP, NC or Indianapolis, IN
REQUIREMENTS - QUALIFICATIONS: VP, Global Head, Semio Business Process Management - RTP, NC
- Bachelor's degree in life sciences or related field and 10 years clinical research experience including 6 years process management experience and experience in a key CRO/Pharmaceutical operational function, e.g., data management, clinical operations, laboratory, pre-cinical; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience - Demonstrated Clinical Development experience - Demonstrated Project Management and Process Optimization expertise - Proven ability in consensus building and conflict management in challenging/difficult situations. - Have the power of rational persuasion and be able to build cases based on logic, data and objective merits. - Have a pioneering attitude and be able to build and foster a collaborative, team oriented environment. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skill - Good problem solving skills - Demonstrated ability to deliver results to the appropriate quality and timeline metrics - Strong influencing and negotiation skills - Good team leadership skills - Sound judgement and decision making skills - Ability to work within a matrix team environment - Ability to handle multiple internal clients competing for attention, services and resources - Ability to lead, guide and motivate staff to achieve desired results - Strong software and computer skills, including MS Office applications and BPMS applications
