JOB DESCRIPTION: Senior Software Engineer
A leading medical technology/device company is searching for a Senior Software Engineer to work within the Glucose Sensor Manufacturing Automation Group with main focus on PC-based software programming. Scope expands also into PLC, HMI Control Systems programming. The qualified candidate will work on specifying and developing automation functionality to realize effective chemical process and mechanical assembly equipment, which aim to support volume production milestones and to reduce labor content in various assembly processes of medical devices.
Candidate will work close together with a multi-disciplinary team to design, document, program, test and validate software applications, in-process data collection, data evaluation applications and data system functionality, system integration as well as provide automation engineering solutions required to support manufacturing systems and also will be working close together with manufacturing floor for streamlining and upgrading current process. Candidate will occasionally need to take on software related responsibilities for larger scale automation equipment projects all the way from writing specifications, critical design reviews and site/factory acceptance tests in close cooperation with production support engineering and quality assurance and in some cases with R&D.
REQUIREMENTS - QUALIFICATIONS: Senior Software Engineer
• Provide technical expertise in creating progressive solutions in PC and PLC-based control systems engineering design and integration for sensor manufacturing automation • Specify and program Windows application software independently for production line needs and Lab process validation. • Apply problem solving skills to troubleshoot existing automated assembly equipment. • Provide sustaining engineering support to the existing manufacturing line when needed. • Knowledge within electrical engineering. • Must be able and willing to be working in a fast paced, schedule oriented and results driven environment.
• Must have 10+ years of factory automation work experience in a manufacturing environment. • Proficient knowledge in Visual Basic and VBScript programming language (Including COM programming, Active X control). • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering and/or BS in Computer Science. • Familiar with C++, C, some DB/SQL experience a plus. • Need to have in depth understanding of embedded PLC communication protocols and industrial network configuration such as Modbus, DirectNET and ProfiBus, Ethernet, RS232, RS485,USB etc. • Familiar with Industrial Control, PLC (Mitsubishi, Allen Bradley) and RTU programming, HMI development, DCS or SCADS applications, trends, data acquisition and more. • Must be familiar with real time software controls of hardware components such as analog to digital converters, digital to analog converters, counters and timers. Need excellent knowledge of structured testing methodology. • Must be able to work a variable schedule in order to support manufacturing needs on an as-needed-basis. • Must be capable of generating technical written documentation in the form of specifications, engineering reports, parts lists, validation plans, and validation reports in a manner that conforms to internal design control requirements.
