JOB DESCRIPTION: Director Sr. Manager, Tissue Regeneration Research

This position will have responsibility to effectively lead and manage a technical team and outside collaborations with a focus on research and development of new products in the field of tissue regeneration. This person will have responsibility for leading a technical team and developing and managing research collaborations with leading academic scientists at multiple institutions worldwide and provide scientific and technical expertise for development and commercialization of new products to support the delivery and use of adult human tissue cells. This person will be focused on research and will work closely with Directors and Development Teams in the Breast Aesthetics and Tissue filler programs to transfer viable new product technology into the development process.

Direct, lead, manage, and coordinate overall research activities directed toward tissue regeneration products to ensure achievement of company objectives. Be an integral part of the evaluation of new technology developed internally or identified from external sources.

Implement procedures and practices for effective interaction with the Product Development and Biomaterials groups.

Liaise with leading universities and the technical community to keep apprised of current and future innovations in stem cell and tissue regeneration science and technology. Identify technical opportunities and recommend projects to management for development. Provide technical and scientific expertise to other departments such as Regulatory and Quality as needed for ongoing support for new submissions.

Serve as an in-house consultant and advisor to senior management on key scientific and technical issues.

Prepare technical papers, review articles and/or patents for publication or filing.

Hire, maintain and mentor scientific and technical personnel within the group.Participate in developing department goals, objectives, and systems with the department Vice President. Develop, communicate, and implement project plans with individuals, departments, partners, and contractors on assigned research projects. Analyze and monitor department costs. Initiate personnel actions, including employee hires, promotions, transfers, evaluations and discharges as required. Assess subordinate employee training needs and conduct or recommend training as necessary.


REQUIREMENTS - QUALIFICATIONS: Director Sr. Manager, Tissue Regeneration Research

Ph.D. or equivalent advanced degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biomedical Engineering or a related field required. At least 6 years industrial R & D experience within the biomedical or medical device industry or demonstrated equivalent expertise and experience in tissue regeneration research and program management. Demonstrated leadership skills, experience in managing medium to large R&D teams, and proven success in research and development.

Essential Skills and Abilities

1. Knowledge of tissue regeneration science and technology.

2. Demonstrated knowledge and experience of medical device and/or cell based product R&D.

3. Skill in managing scientific research programs and personnel.

4. Knowledge and experience in cellular and analytical techniques, in vivo and in vitro tissue regeneration models, and interpret research data.

5. Skill in preparing and conducting effective presentations.

6. Skill managing and assessing technical performance of partners and contractors.

7. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, leadership, and reasoning skills.

8. Excellent communication skills.

9. Ability to travel to meetings and professional seminars.

10. Ability to guide and delegate to subordinates and team members.

11. Ability to analyze training needs and conduct training.

12. Ability to take initiative and make decisions.

13. Strong computer and statistical skills
