JOB DESCRIPTION: Director Software Development
Purpose/Role Statement
Directs all aspects of software development and software test for BSN products. Additional responsibilities include the identification, development, and implementation of strategic initiatives for the BSN product pipeline.
Key Responsibilities
· Identifies and supports strategic initiatives.
· Leads design, and implementation of new or improved products and applications.
· Identifies future technology and intellectual property critical to future business growth.
· Supports technology advancements for the department.
· Creates and tracks budgets and schedules.
· Investigates and leverages technology across BSC
· Manages external contacts within the physicians and/or industry communities.
· Ensures functional excellence within his/her organization.
· Responsible for succession planning and the development of personnel.
Quality Systems Duties and Responsibilities (if not already detailed above)
Fully supports the Quality Policy by building quality into all aspects of software and product development; maintains compliance to all quality and relevant regulatory body requirements. Tracks training requirements for all personnel in his/her organization.
Qualifications
10+ year technical professional experience, 5+ year functional (people) management experience, and a minimum a Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Computer Science (MS preferred) or equivalent.
Candidates should have the following experience:
* Experience managing product development for a software organization including Application Software, User Interface Design, Embedded Firmware, and Software Test.
* Experience with high reliability software design (e.g. military, space, aviation, or medical) is highly desirable.
* Experience with the FDA Regulatory Body or equivalent is highly desirable.
* Familiarity with measurement tools for software productivity and defect management tools is highly desirable.
* Background in development in C and/or C++ and embedded firmware is highly desirable
