JOB DESCRIPTION: Engineering Manager
The Test Manager oversees all aspects of the CareLink Test organization to ensure quality product delivery. The candidate is responsible for providing functional and operational leadership to the Verification Test and Performance Engineering teams. The candidate must be self driven with a strong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle process and strong technical and leadership skills. The position is responsible for effectively managing the departments day to day direction in support of the overall business strategy to include; goals, objectives, adherence to procedures and discipline to a high level of engineering.
REQUIREMENTS - QUALIFICATIONS: Engineering Manager
- Manages the coordination of the activities of the CareLink Test organization with responsibility for results in terms of costs, methods and employees. Accomplishes results through subordinate supervisors or through experienced employees who exercise significant latitude and independence in their assignments. Develop and mentor staff via daily activities, formal training, IDPs and other tools.
- Ensures the delivery and reliability of the PMPD Product Plan by managing schedule commitments and quality through portfolio, project, resource (internal & external) and pipeline management.
- Facilitates good cross functional, cross project team, and cross business communication and coordination to ensure successful completion of projects. Acts as an advisor to subordinate supervisors or staff members to meet schedules or resolve technical or operational problems. Directly participates in establishing and administering functional projects. Develops and administers budgets, schedules, and performance standards.
- Functions as an advisor to the Test organization regarding tasks, projects, and operations. Becomes actively involved in daily operations only when required to meet schedules or to resolve complex problems.
- Frequent contacts with internal personnel and external representatives at various management levels concerning operations or scheduling of specific phases of projects or contracts.
- Exercises sound judgment within defined practices and policies.
- Develop a flexible, scalable and high performance workforce (including outsourcing).
- Participate as a contributing member of the senior CareLink staff in leading direction, objectives, process development, strategy, and issue resolutions. Have frequent contacts with equivalent level managers and customers concerning projects, operational decisions, scheduling requirements, or contractual clarifications. Conduct briefings and technical meetings for internal and external representatives.
- Creates operating policies and procedures that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the department. Interprets, executes, and recommends modifications to organizational process, policy and structure.
• B.S. in Engineering or related discipline, MS
• 10+ years combined experience in technical product development and/or verification, validation or quality function. Project management preferably in design or development, and people management
• Strong tactical product development skills, experience with verification strategy, automation, and network application development.
• Strong background in process development and working in an environment that utilizes out source relationships
• Excellent leadership and people management skills
• Strong communication skills and influencing skills
• Capable of leading product development through cross-functional teams
• Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulator agencies, or members of the business community.
• Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or senior staff.
