JOB DESCRIPTION: Prin Compliance Specialist
The Principal Compliance Specialist will support implementing and monitoring CRDM’s ethics and compliance program primarily related to business practices involving healthcare providers. The ethics and compliance program is modeled after the federal compliance and ethics program standards set out in the United States Sentencing Guidelines for Organizations and includes various anti-kickback laws, regulations and guideances; the Medtronic Code of Conduct and Business Conduct Standards; and CRDM policies and procedures.
The Principal Compliance Specialist will act in concert with the VP for Ethics and Compliance in a variety of initiatives and program functions. This will include close collaboration and partnership with the Medtronic corporate Office of Ethics and Compliance. This position requires outstanding written and oral communication skills, the ability to work independently with a high level of productivity, familiarity with the current enforcement environment and the ability to work effectively with business partners across CRDM’s legal, sales, marketing, research and other functions as well as partners within the corporate Office of Ethics and Compliance and the ethics and compliance programs in other Medtronic business units. The Principal Compliance Specialist will be responsible for leading and managing a variety of compliance initiatives as well as assisting the CRDM VP for Ethics and Compliance in program documentation.
REQUIREMENTS - QUALIFICATIONS: Prin Compliance Specialist
Project Management:
• Leads compliance initiatives and projects across CRDM business units, including but not limited to annual needs and planning compliance projects •Utilizes project management tools to ensure appropriate management oversight and progress for all compliance initiatives • Works with business partners to manage various compliance committees and committee operations
Procedures:
•Leads compliance and ethics initiative, in concert with business partners, in implementing a standardized operating procedure framework • Assists the CRDM VP of Ethics and Compliance on policy and procedure initiatives, including drafting underlying work procedures to implement corporate ethics and compliance policies across a wide array of compliance areas, including grants and donations, research, consulting, product donations, education and co-marketing activities •Creates and writes compliance related materials for CRDM education and implementation, including assisting in the creation of dynamic, web and multi-media sales and related education and awareness initiatives, newsletters, FAQs, and other updates • Researches and communicates regulatory and other developments, working with CRDM Legal and other relevant parties • Drafts compliance and ethics summaries and management reports for a variety of executive and other stakeholders • Responds promptly to compliance questions from stakeholders
Investigations, Monitoring and Auditing:
• Partners with HR, Legal, and other stakeholders in investigating, responding to and tracking reports of Business Conduct compliance violations •Maintains database and reporting tools for managing compliance investigations and their results, inquiries, and compliance advice provided • Works closely with the corporate Office of Ethics and Compliance and the CRDM VP of Ethics and Compliance to develop and implement compliance monitoring and auditing strategies, including analyzing data from various sources as well as creating and implementing new monitoring and reporting methodologies • Assists in creating and implementing annual ethics and compliance risk assessment strategies
Program Documentation and Administration:
•Develops and implements a robust filing and documentation system for all compliance matters •Works closely with the administrative support staff for the CRDM Ethics and Compliance Office to assure a highly professional and well-documented ethics and compliance program • Creates appropriate documentation for compliance-related CRDM committees and workgroups •Other duties as assigned
• Bachelors Degree • 8 + years of related experience that crossed business functions • 3+ years of project management • Experience in corporate ethics and compliance or legal compliance • Experience with MS Office Suite programs
