JOB DESCRIPTION: Principal Engineer- Life Cycle
Vertex is looking for Principal Engineer to join our Infrastructure Services team. The Senior Life Cycle Engineer will be a member of the Planning & Life Cycle team, supporting a global infrastructure consisting of more then 1,400 employees. The team is responsible for infrastructure system design, change management, compliance monitoring, capacity planning.
The Senior Life Cycle Engineer has the responsibility of capturing and managing all GIS infrastructure assets. This role will help set the business plan for hardware refresh and new platform introductions to meet evolving business needs. This role is expected to establish standards for assets and to enforce standard configurations for Windows, Linux and ESX. In addition you will have primary responsibility for the integrity of the CMDB and foster its use in Release, Change and Capacity management.
This team member will be considered a technical leader in the Infrastructure Services team. As a technical leader part of the responsibilities of this role will be to mentor and coach junior staff across sites.
Key Responsibilities:
-Work closely with other infrastructure members to develop, maintain, and publish standard Server configurations and manage the CMDB.
-Manage and report on assets their lifecycle, including, policy, scheduling, communication & provisioning to Build/Run.
-Provide application teams with consultative services for the evaluation and adoption of new services.
-Develop documentation on service level agreements, working with monitoring, and capacity planning.
-Partner with GIS team, for process and service improvement.
REQUIREMENTS - QUALIFICATIONS: Principal Engineer- Life Cycle
At the minimum, a Bachelor's degree in computer science or a scientific or business field or 10+ years of equivalent experience is needed. In addition, this candidate must show the ablilty to work with complex projects both individually and in a team. Strong project mgmt experience is also needed.
7-10 years enterprise level infrastructure experience is needed in design and implementing solutions that include the following components: Windows Servers, Linux, Oracle application/data base servers, Load Balancer, Firewalls, and VPNs.
Additional requirements include:
-Experience with developing service level agreements
-Ability to establish effective collaborative working relationships with multiple support groups across the company.
-Excellent verbal and documentation skills.
-Strong sense of accountability, taking ownership over projects and responsibilities and resolving issues proactively
Research, Pharmaceutical & FDA regulated experience is a plus.
